Mercury Music Prize

I watched the Mercury Music Prize* awards ceremony live on TV tonight and I am very happy to say that Anthony & The Johnsons latest album "I Am A Bird Now" won! I urge anyone reading this to buy this album because it is truly amazing. I should warn you that Anthony's vocals are very unique and the album will take a few listens to appreciate but is really worth the effort. He actually sounds like a woman singing with jazz, soul, blues influences. Very emotive music which I have really come to love over the last few weeks. This award will hopefully give him the exposure and credit he deserves. I'm very pleased.

*The Mercury Music Prize is awarded by a panel of music industry executives which means it doesn't usually get awarded to whatever is the usual public choice. For example, Kaiser Chiefs and Magic Numbers were up this year and didn't win. Kaiser Chiefs are very big here at the moment and Magic Numbers are last month's big new band. They gave it to the right choice of the 12.
